How can I write about this series? After being infatuated with the idea of Guatemala I finally went and lived there. This was in 2012. I loved it as much as I thought I would. I have been going back as often as possible ever since. These objects that I saved are from my first few months there, traveling all over the country with love for more than just the place. Each moment, each and every experience needed to be remembered. So I grabbed a shell here and jotted down a date there so I could remember. What's interesting now is that years later, finally having the chance to look back and record, the memories have all melded. The sea shell that once meant 'he told he he would love me forever in Livingston in November 2012' now is just a metaphor; a memory enclosed in cotton. Floating like a bed sheet in the vast ocean.
